Fitness on Lake Zurich — Why WE.FIT Is Different
By WE.FIT
Most gyms in Switzerland are fine. They have equipment, they have opening hours, and they’ll leave you completely alone for as long as you keep paying the monthly fee.
That’s exactly the problem.
WE.FIT was built around a different idea: that training is more effective, more consistent, and frankly more enjoyable when you’re part of something rather than just a cardholder.
Here’s what that actually looks like in practice.
Two Locations on the Lake
WE.FIT has two gyms on Lake Zurich. Wädenswil (Zugerstrasse 162) and Meilen (Bergstrasse 3) — both on the water, both accessible by S-Bahn from Zurich HB.
Wädenswil is about 25 minutes by train. Meilen is about 20 minutes. Both locations run full class schedules across all disciplines.
One membership covers both. If you live closer to one and work near the other, or if you want to train with a friend who goes to a different location, you can move freely between them.
This matters more than it might seem. In a city where people are often commuting from across the lake, flexibility in where you train is the difference between consistently making it to class and not.
What’s Included in a WE.FIT Membership
A single membership gives you access to every class at both locations:
- CrossFit — daily programming with strength and conditioning
- CrossFit Rookie — beginner-specific program for learning the fundamentals
- HYROX — structured training for HYROX races
- Yoga — active recovery, mobility, and breathwork
- Weightlifting — Olympic lifting technique and strength development
- Gymnastics — handstands, muscle-ups, bar and ring work
- Build — strength-focused accessory training
- Booty + Abs — targeted conditioning
- FamilyFit — classes that include kids
There are no extra fees. No “yoga is CHF 30 per session on top of your membership.” All of it is included from CHF 195/month.
For context: that’s the same price as a lot of gym memberships in Zurich that offer you a treadmill, some machines, and no community whatsoever.
The Coaching Difference
At WE.FIT, coaches are not just people standing near the whiteboard.
They watch you during workouts. They correct your mechanics when something’s off. They remember that your knee was bothering you last Tuesday and check whether it’s better. They know your name, your history, and what you’re working toward.
This is the practical result of keeping class sizes small. When there are 12 people in a class rather than 30, a coach can actually see everyone. Feedback is specific and in the moment — not a generic reminder shouted over music.
The WE.FIT coaching team has been building since the beginning with people who care about getting training right. Not just motivators. Teachers.
What “Community” Actually Means
The word “community” gets used in gym marketing so often it’s become almost meaningless. So let’s be specific about what it means at WE.FIT.
People greet each other by name. Not because the gym told them to, but because they’ve done workouts together and suffered through the same hard days. Sweat creates bonds faster than almost any other social setting.
Members ask about each other’s races, their goals, whether they’ve recovered from the workout on Thursday. When someone disappears for a few weeks, people notice and say something.
For people who are new to the area — and there are a lot of English-speaking expats in the Zurich lakeshore communities — this kind of built-in social infrastructure is genuinely valuable. It’s one of the unexpected benefits of CrossFit and HYROX gyms specifically: the shared intensity creates connection faster than most things.
An Honest Environment
WE.FIT is not a judgment-free zone in the sense that nothing is taken seriously. It’s a judgment-free zone in the sense that no one cares what you look like or how much weight you’re lifting.
What people do care about is whether you’re showing up. Whether you’re trying. Whether you’re getting better over time.
That’s a different kind of pressure than aesthetic judgment — and it’s a more useful one. It’s the pressure that actually makes you better.
Beginners are welcome. People in their 50s train here. People recovering from injury train here. Parents with young kids train here. The range of people you’ll find in a WE.FIT class is wide, and the environment is set up to meet people where they are.
The Training Philosophy
WE.FIT was founded by Dario and Rafi with a specific idea in mind: that functional fitness — training that makes you better at life, not just better at looking fit — is the most valuable kind.
CrossFit and HYROX are the primary expressions of this. Both emphasize movement patterns you actually use: squatting, hinging, pressing, pulling, carrying, running. Both measure real fitness under real conditions rather than isolated muscle activation.
The other disciplines support this core: yoga improves recovery and mobility, weightlifting develops power and technique, gymnastics builds body control, Build adds the accessory strength work that keeps the main training sustainable.
It’s not a random collection of fitness classes. It’s a coherent approach to getting fit in a way that holds up over years.
For People New to Zurich
If you’ve recently moved to Zurich or the lakeshore area and you’re looking for a fitness routine that also gives you some social footing — WE.FIT is worth a serious look.
The English is there when you need it. The welcome is genuine. The class schedule is dense enough that you can find something that fits your schedule without having to plan around it.
And there’s something about the physical setting — training in Wädenswil or Meilen, with the lake right there — that doesn’t hurt. Zurich is a beautiful place to make fitness part of your life.
The First Class Is Free
Come and see for yourself. The first class at WE.FIT is always free — no signup fee, no commitment, no pitch at the end.
Walk in, do a workout, meet the people, feel the coaching. That experience is more informative than anything written here.
Most people know by the end of their first session whether it’s for them.
