Meet Errol & Kaja — our Members of the Month in Meilen!
Some couples binge-watch shows together. Errol and Kaja chase PRs together. They moved from Thalwil to Meilen less than a year ago and quickly became a fixture in our box — finishing the Meilen birthday WOD shoulder to shoulder, knowing each other’s strengths and weaknesses better than anyone, and laughing when the coaches sneak extra weights on their bars to remind them they’re capable of more than they think.

Let’s get to know Errol & Kaja a little better…
1. What motivates both of you the most to show up and train in the box regularly?
Errol & Kaja: We like to see continuous improvement — being able to lift more, move quicker and build better endurance. We’re also motivated by great coaches and seeing familiar faces reserving the classes we plan to attend.
2. What has been your proudest moment so far that you experienced as a team or at the same time in the box?
Errol & Kaja: Finishing Meilen Box’s birthday workout together within the time cap — that was a tough one!
3. Do you enjoy competing together, or would you be interested in signing up for a competition as a two-person team?
Errol & Kaja: We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses very well. Once we get a bit more strength and improve our condition, we don’t rule out competing together.
4. How do you like to unwind together when you aren’t busy working on your PRs?
Errol & Kaja: We love hikes and walks. We moved from Thalwil to Meilen less than a year ago, so we still very much enjoy discovering the area on this side of the lake.
5. What does the community in our box mean to you, and how has it influenced your friendship or partnership?
Errol & Kaja: We genuinely like the people and coaches — they constantly motivate us to be better (and sometimes secretly add weights on our bars to show us we can do more than we think we can!).
6. If you could change one thing in the box immediately — what is the one thing you both would agree on, and why?
Errol & Kaja: Add weightlifting classes. We had very good weightlifting programmes in CrossFit Rookie and Booty and Abs last year, but it seems that following the changes, CrossFit Rookie has become more cardio-focused. It’s important to have time to master each movement.
7. If you had to design a beginner WOD for everyone together, which movements would be included and why?
Errol & Kaja: Deadlifts, front squats and back squats. Everyone in the gym should be able to do these fairly comfortably. And also wall walks, because they are fun!
8. What is the funniest thing that has ever crossed your minds (or what you thought about each other) during a tough WOD?
Errol & Kaja: Nothing specific comes to mind, but one thing we really love are Adrian’s and Stefan’s jokes 🙂
9. If you could choose a shared superpower for training, what would it be?
Errol & Kaja: Doing burpees without effort.
10. Where is your shared “happy place” outside of the box where you can instantly relax?
Errol & Kaja: The sofa at our home.
