Member of the Month: Irena Lovrinovic — Meilen
By WE.FIT
Meet Irena — our Member of the Month in Meilen!
Irena has been part of our community since July 2025 and quickly made herself right at home in the box. What we love about her: her versatility, her honest humour, and the way she surprises herself with every movement — and celebrates even harder when she nails it. Irena is the kind of person who tries everything and has fun doing it.
Keep it up, Irena — we love your energy!
Let’s get to know Irena a little better…
1. How long have you been training with us?
Irena: Since July 2025.
2. What was the moment you knew: “CrossFit is my thing”?
Irena: I loved the variety and mix of classes right from the start, especially the combination of strength and endurance.
3. What’s your unwritten training rule or biggest mental hack to push through?
Irena: To make sure I actually go regularly, I never check the workout in advance. And to push through during the exercises: when I can’t go on, I just take a deep breath… doesn’t always work though.
4. Is there a skill or movement you thought was impossible that you’ve now mastered? How did you do it?
Irena: With almost every exercise, I initially feel like I won’t manage it — especially with weight targets and calorie goals. That makes it all the more satisfying when I actually do.
5. What sport or activity outside CrossFit helps you become a better athlete?
Irena: I play tennis, go jogging and hiking. On warm days I love inline skating, and in winter I go skiing and snowboarding. Basically, I’m up for any sport.
6. What’s your personal “happy place” or a spot where you instantly relax?
Irena: Ever since my childhood, my absolute happy place has been Croatia by the sea, where we have our house. But honestly, I can relax pretty much anywhere.
7. What’s one thing you wish you had more time for right now?
Irena: I believe you don’t have time — you make time. For everything that truly matters to me, I make the time. If I can’t find it, it’s probably not important enough.
8. What hidden talent do you have that would surprise people in the box?
Irena: Good question — I’d love to know that myself! I can do a little bit of everything, but nothing perfectly… except maybe my football skills.
9. What exactly is your role or profession?
Irena: I work as a nursery manager and I’m responsible for organisation, team leadership, quality assurance in childcare, parent communication and much more.
10. If you could introduce one box rule that only applies to you, what would it be?
Irena: That I only ever have to do a quarter of the calories — especially on the Air Bike.
Thank you so much for this great interview, Irena!
We’re so happy to have you in our Meilen community. Your humour, your openness, and your sporting spirit make every class better. Keep pushing — in and out of the box!
