Member of the month – Maurizio Rametta

Meet Maurizio, our incredible Member of the Month!

Maurizio has been with us for a while now, and we can honestly say—there’s no one quite like him!  He’s the most friendly and pure soul in our we.fit community. The moment Maurizio walks into class, everything just feels right—his positive and calming energy is truly contagious. You’ll mostly find him in the evening classes, always bringing smiles, good vibes, and the best attitude. Whether it’s a tough workout or a fun team WOD, Maurizio makes every session better just by being there.

Keep shining, Maurizio —we’re so proud of you!

1. What or who brought you to We.Fit Wädenswil?
I got to know CrossFit in 2018 while I was working in the US but I really started to train regular in 2022 in Barcelona. When I moved back to Switzerland November 2023 I wanted to continue training CrossFit. The company where I work is located in Wädenswil and I was living nearby. Since day one I loved this side of the lake, I started to look where to train, and I found the box in Google Maps with many good reviews, so I came by to take a look. It was love at first sight, I didn’t check other boxes and since then I’ve been coming regularly here.

2. Do you prefer strength workouts or conditioning workouts, and why?
This is a tough one, because I like both of them. Since the ending of last year, I’m trying to balance both types of workout because I wanted to participate at the Hyrox competition at St. Gallen, and after participating a couple of weeks ago, now I’m more than sure that having a mix of both training sessions is the right way for me for maintaining the body mass while being able to exercise for long hours.

3. How do you usually start your day?
Waking up from the bed complaining (I love to sleep :P). After the pain felt by waking up, I made my breakfast, I start cooking the lunch and snacks for the day, and prepare my bag for coming at the box later that day. After all this, I’m ready to hit the day.

4. What’s your favorite place you’ve ever traveled to, and why?
This is also a tough one, since there are a lot of amazing places that I’ve visited and still want to visit, but if I need to choose one would be when I went to Finland in March 2023. I went to visit my girlfriend that she was doing one semester in Lahti. I stayed a couple of days there and we went to Lapland to stay in the middle of nowhere to try to see the Northern lights. The nature and the peace were super nice, and the cherry on the cake was that we were able to see the Northern lights, something unique that I’d recommend everyone to live that experience.

5. What do you like most about We.Fit Wädenswil that keeps you coming back?
The people, the coaches and the box. Everyone is super nice and friendly and there are always good vibes.

6.  If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be?
Anything related to gymnastics, I find it super cool to see people do them and I’m really bad at everything related to gymnastics :P.

7. How has training at We.Fit impacted your daily life outside the gym?
Even though is difficult to believe because I’m always dying after each WOD, I’m fitter than ever and also, I have a healthier lifestyle. Additionally, is helping not to be my time in Switzerland so lonely because I have made very good friends at the box and we’re hanging out for lunch and dinners, enjoying the lake in summertime, and now in April we’ll be travelling for one weekend to Warsaw for competing at Hyrox.

8. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
“You need to put everything in the work and the results will come” and “the key of success is failure”. By these advices I’m always giving my best in all the things that I’m doing and I’m perseverant and patient in all my aspects of my life.

9. In three words, how would you describe yourself to a stranger?
I believe myself that I’m humble, friendly and always trying to be with a smile in my face.

10. Tell us a little bit about yourself…
I was born in Italy and raised in Argentina, but both my parents are from Argentina. Being proud of coming from a family of immigrants, I’m really honoring them, since 2013 I have been living abroad already in 4 different countries (Italy, Brazil, Spain and now in Switzerland) and in more than 8 cities, hopefully living here for many years. I used to play and compete Tennis at a national level in Argentina and in Italy, but for 3 the last years I have barely played tennis (since I started to train frequently CrossFit). I love to practice sports, travelling, hanging out with friends, eating (specially Asado and Empanadas), watching movies and series, reading, but what I enjoy more is coming always back to Argentina and Brazil for spending time with my family, friends and my lovely girlfriend from Belo Horizonte.

Thank you so much for this great interview.

We’re so happy to have you in the community Maurizio! Your dedication, humor, and friendly nature make our community even better. Keep pushing your limits and enjoying every moment—both in and out of the box!
